Hello all..

New to this forum after starting with LMMS a few weeks ago.
I also have a Roland System1 and the TB3. I can see the usb-MIDI Channels in LMMS..

Quesion: how to make a piano-rol for these devices? I do not see a MIDI-only device.

You have the MIDI-tab on all instruments, and connection is through that
But i think all will be clear, when you read this chapter:
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=Using_MIDI

I also hope you have a RC8 version of LMMS

Let us know the outcome :)

Outch.. That is afaik a first for LMMS.
You have real HW-synth-generators, that you need to send a key-down signal to..
LMMS does not support it. I will add it to suggestions. Idk if any DAW support HW-synth. It is kind of agains the philosophy of a DAW: To host soft-synths, and emulate HW-synths

Surely you just need, for example, an empty Vestige instrument, and enable and set the instrument's Midi Out

Years ago I saw a demonstration, with an AtariST, Cubase and Yamaha synthesizer the DX7.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_DX7

I remember us the audience, asking about the drum pattern because It sounded so mechanical.
The guy demonstration, then dove into cubase and clicked.
And bam is suddenly sounded like a real drummer.

The DX7 connected to the AtariST with a midi cable.

Not 100 % sure if we are taking about the same thing though?

To make it more clear, the sound did not come from the AtariST that only provided the midi data, the sound came from the DX7. From midi out on the Atari, to midi in on the Yamaha Dx7.
