I have a question about two synth sounds.

One seems to be a swelling sound, second one some kind of flute ? sound.

Question 1, How to do that flute ? sound. If that a gliding note , pitch bend ? Something else ?
Tried automating the pitch, but that did not seem to be it.

Starts around 0.40 in

Question 2. How to do that swelling sound.
(I thought it was as simple as putting allot of attack on it, but that does not seem to work)

Starts at around 1 min. ( it starts sooner, but hard to hear before this)

For the flute: have you tried overlapping notes? Hi to low - something with low attack and long release?

As for the swelling, no idea. Aside from attack/release and automation - and you said you tried that, so... no idea.

I am trying over lapping notes for the swelling sound. I might be on the right track, but need allot more trying and fiddling.

The Flute part how ever. Automating the pitch did not sound like anything Vangelis did.

I used Sonic Vizualizer on Vangelis Alpha. ( the flute)

There is definitely a sound, going down in pitch. ( frequency )
I saw something I never saw before in the analyser. A curved shape going down.


What is confusing me, when I tried something in LMMS, with the pitch, it sounded out of scale instantly.

This makes total sense to me, but I don't hear this the original.

Reminds me of steps 12 or 24 or 48 ?, to stay in tune.

Tried some more, but my pitch change sounds allot less big as in the original, and I still have the out of key problem.

Ehhh :( Sumthink went wrong -I posted at longer reply yesterday, and its gone!
The gist of it is
1) there is a whole Synth1 Vangelis collection. Do you have it?
2) the 'flute' maybe a theremin
3) swell is just a std LP sweep

I do have some vangelis presets, but not an entire Vangelis sound bank. ( Shiffbauer Kujashi )

Will have a look for them.

I will try a steep lp filter on the swell
