When I try to import a file from Hydrogen (.h2song) windows closes lmms.exe
I am new to this. I am running it on Windows 8. I have no idea what to do.

Filetype .h2song is not a supported type. I think LMMS attempt to parse it as a MIDI-File, and then LMMS crash!
I have to admit, that i do not know the structure of a .h2song-file, but you cant load it in current LMMS. Only MIDI-Files can be imported, and only MMP, MMPZ and BAK files can be directly associated with LMMS, eg open the program, with a double-click on a file of those types.

Wrong. We have support for importing Hydrogen projects but I haven't tried it personally.

What version of LMMS are you using?
What version of Hydrogen did you use?
Can you provide a minimal .h2song project that fail to open in LMMS?
