The point is that I couldn't run VST's at all in the version of LMMS from the Linux Mint repositories after my upgrade (by way of a clean install) to Linux Mint 19.2 64-bit, so that's why I switched to the AppImage version of LMMS. And now almost everything works. But as the AppImage is not installed from the Linux Mint repositories maybe that's why Linux complains.
