How do i add new effects. I tried copying and pasting the .so file into /tmp/.mount_lmms-1hvSUif/usr/lib/lmms/ladspa but it wont let me because the directory is not writeable. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

.so is bot a supported format.
You can use LADSPA and (some) VST. They has the format .dll
You place the VST-dll in your VST-plugins folder

it seems incredible that a native Linux application cannot use a native Linux VST plugin.
