sample start time offset

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hi i am new to LMMS, and so far read a bunch of tutorials !) starting to pratice so please forgive me if it's straightforward :

Is it possible to configure a sample so that it automatically starts playing before the position you set (-> metronome beat) whenenver you use it ?

Indeed, sometimes samples (quite often when synthetic) come with a short (0.05s, 0.1s, 0.2s) prepended sound before the peak (typically some shhh noise before a hit for instance / or when the note materializes) ,
and it's that hit that you want to hear on the beat and still use quantization.

(noise...hit) .... (prenoise...hit)
.............1...........................2

Is it possible to tune an instrument derived from any audio sample so that it always behaves this way (OK for quantization) and you never have to bother about this once set ?

thanking you in advance

Hi, Welcome to the Forum ecodix !
Here are all important links:

-A few rules and useful forum instructions
some samples come with a short (0.05s, 0.1s, 0.2s) prepended sound
How to remove that?
That is easy. You need to configure the envelope in the Sample-player called AFP:
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=AudioFileProcessor

By setting the START and END position, you can select what part of a sample you want to use, and this selection can even be automated, so you can pick several sub-samples from one large sample, and have these played at different time in the track
This shows how:

Sorry, i was misunderstood, maybe i was not clear :

in this case, i dont want to alter (cut ...) the sample in any way :
i just want the sample to be played in full
but in advance, just a tiny (fixed, say 0.05s) amount of time before the "official" note position (music bar ...) is reached
and still use (rough) quantization (larger than 0.05s)
-> in other words, as if the whole instrument track was offset by -0.05s, not aligned with other instruments

So i am wondering if somewhere (track or instrument configuration) i can set that offset once for all
and have LMMS play the sample in advanced everytime a note is played.
