Hi,

There is interesting feature in new free DAW named Zrythm (https://www.zrythm.org/en/index.html). It consist to transform midi from audio plugin to .wav or .flac which could reduce CPU of weak computer while play huge project. https://youtu.be/9CCzcUzMDUE

I'm not sure, but it could be related to this: https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/issues/762
I don't know why it didn't work out.

Regards...

lmms used to have something similar. It was called frozen tracks. There was some bugs, and it was retired before 1.0 afair.
Plans for having something similar exists.
