Connecting a Keyboard (Yamaha PSR-270)

Hi,
This is my first time posting (and using the LMMS software for Windows 10).
I currently have a Yamaha PSR -270 (It has a MIDI function) and U an trying to connect it to the software and be able to play and record .
Anytime time I use it , the keyboard nor the software indicates that it operational. Any key I press wont record .
Can any one help?
