Constant Noise when using the Piano Roll Editor

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
So, I'm constantly trying to make music using the LMMS's Piano Roll Editor, but when I either play or record, every 4 "blocks" it makes an annoying sound. It's like cracking. This completely destroys my concentration, and I end up not being able to make anything.
Unfortunately, I have no other details that could help out fixing the problem, I think.
My LMMS version is 1.1.3, but I've had this problem even in the 1.0.2 version.
I must note that sometimes, rarely, it doesn't do that annoying sound, and instead just plays normally.
My audio interface is SDL, and my MIDI Interface is WinMM MIDI.
I'm trying to use the ZynAddSubFX plugin, but I think this also happens with other plugins.
My computer is running on Windows 8.1 x86.
im not happy that you have sdl, because that was really the only 'good' solution i had for you..
Of cause there is the buffer, but have you changed the defaults..?

Do you have a copy of VST-host installed?
If you do, try to load the vst version of ZynAddSubFX on vstHost. What i would like to know, is weather or not you have crackles when you play notes on zasfx's internal keyboard.

When using keyboard input, which I do use with the computer's keyboard, and not a MIDI keyboard, it doesn't make that cracking sound.
I lack terminology, but for every of those vertical lines you see on the piano roll editor, it makes that sound. Not for every square, but for every 4 squars.
I'm really sorry for the lack of terminology.

I do have the VST plugins, but it isn't changing anything. It happens with anything I use the piano roll with.

Here is an screenshot, hope it helps......

EDIT:
Notice in the image, that even when using the default "kicker" sound, it does that notice.
Also, I think it's visible that the Piano Roll has no events in it.
I remind, it only happens when recording, and when playing (at the piano roll only)
Are you sure you're not just talking about the "metronome" noise it makes so you can stay in time when you're recording ? It's supposed to do that.

Steve
first those arrows points to beats
in 4/4 tempo you would have 4 beats for each bar
The beats are subdivided in ticks
So that was the terminology :)

You said:
When using keyboard input.. ..and not a MIDI keyboard, it doesn't make that cracking sound.
So its exclusively related to your midi interface, ao MIDIkeyboard, but it is rather strange, that the crackle would be exactly every beat..
When it comes to midi-interface problems, i am definitely not knowledgeable (i dont have any), but first guess would be the cable.
Try to visit your local piano-dealership, and explain you situation.
Ask if they will lend you a high-quality cable, and see if that does the trick.
But otherwise you will just have to accept, that your midi-hardware does not do well on lmms, and then only use the PC-keyboard, as a lot of us do, and where you have no crackles, if i have understood you correctly.

@slipstick - nae.. he doesnt have the crackle-sound in pc-keyboard use, but i must agree that i thought the same :)
Oh, I'm not sure if you got it correctly @musikbear . Sorry if my English is incorrect, or if I lack logic. After all, English is not my native language.

I was saying that I use the PC-keyboard, but not the MIDI keyboard, and (with the PC-Keyboard) I don't get that cracking noise.

And, @slipstick , I removed the metronome01.ogg file from the lmms data, and it's not doing that noise anymore. I guess it fixed it, and honestly, I don't see why there's no easy way of removing it.

Thank you all for the help :)
