can you split the sounds on your midi keyboard

Hi guys. havn't posted in a while.
i notice on my yamaha keyboard there is an option to split the sounds on half of the keyboard so one half could be playing bass and one half piano etc.
but i am wondering if there such a thing when you plug a midi keyboard into LMMS. can you split the sounds and assign diffrent vst instruments to diffrent octives of your keyboard. like half and half etc ?
