That is correct! You cant from inside song-editor, and you should in fact not be able to stretch it length either..way to modify the start of imported MIDI-notes .
The fact that you do that indicates that you are using beat&bass-editor for music-notes. That IS possible, but it is not intended!
In LMMS we use:
* song-editor for instruments-notes
* beat&bass-editor for percussion
That is a different kind of workflow, than in FLstudio amo, but we find more benefits in our design :)

You insert notes infront of existing notes inside piano-roll!
* Move your play-head to 0.0
* Hold shift and tab on INSERT-key
All notes will move to a later position
If you tab DEL the notes moves the other way
