On another post, it was advised to off the "MIDI CONTROLLER" from the menu that pops up when selecting "Connect to the controller..." from the right-click menu.
So I do, but to no effect.
So, as I check the menu again, the "MIDI CONTROLLER" is still on.
I've also tried changing the LMMS setup for midi to "Dummy (no midi support)", also opening a new project, uninstalling the 1.1.3 and installing the latest stable version for Linux.
Didn't make the difference.

Later, I came to the revelation, that I've already installed JACK Audio Connection Kit when I was installing QjackCtl, so after messing with its and LMMS's settings, I got automation to work.

But should it not affect LMMS when it's not running?

I still don't know a way to automate the ZynAddSubFX's GUI.

You should definitively not use 1.1.3. Our new 1.2.1 is way better!

True! Historically zasfx was our most flexible and automateable plugin, but after we introduced full VST-support, zasfx suddenly was the least automateable, because its only the 7 features on the flugin-tab, that can be automated. Zasfx has 500+ controllers, and non of those can be automated.

Everything, works.
The "MIDI CONTROLLER" not staying off in the "Connection Settings" for a knob/slider/track/etc. just had led me wondering.
