How do I fix cutting out and hesitation?

I just got lmms and recently got a mid to USB cord for $10, it's the one with this silver-ish cord and I'm using a Yamaha education suite keyboard. I got it to play notes but it won't register notes if I don't go super slow, it also cuts out and holds sometimes, does anyone know how to fox this?

You have a lot of lag from when you press a key, and lmms reacts -Is that correct understood?

Cables can be an issue, but its properly ok.....
If anyone knows this cable it would be very nice to learn about its functionality in lmms! Please post!

* Name of your Operative System (Windows/ Linux/ Mac) And subtype (Home' 'Mint' '10.13' aso)
* lmms version
* lmms sound device chosen
