Could there be some pop up window hiding somewhere that takes focus?
What version of lmms are you using?

Try and "Save as new project" and create a new back up of the project. If that works, restart.

'yeahigiveupnow' not the best way to tackle a problem..
Did zonkmachine solve your issue?

I think your piano-roll has opened outside your view, or you have made a 'stay-on-top' window by chance, and that covers all windows under it..
But what window IS opened ?
Can you make a screenshot of your lmms UI as it is now?
