I'm still stuck at creating this violin synth beat

I've been working on this since June.
Using a song called 'This Ends Now' by Really Slow Motion which can be heard here:

The synth beat comes in at 0:36 _ _ _ _ _ _
I'm teaching myself how to use LMMS the hard way and so far doing good, just stuck on this one instrument
Can anyone recognise the synth and suggest what effects I should use?
