if everyone hasn't noticed i have posted twice and yet no one has responded, perhaps I got off on the wrong foot......i want to get better at making beats I just started with lmms about 2 weeks ago, the layout is really similar to fl studio, except lmms is less complicated. anyhow here is a remix that I did of Outkast -elevators someone was telling me that it starts off with no direction and the bass melody could be a little more "upbeat" so I would like some feedback on a way to give it direction. and also perhaps even the proper format of a song.... here's the link to that remixed track........ please be positive and I would like to hear from you.

Hi hawke0777,

First of all and before commenting about your track your commentary is a little bit unfair. As you can see many others are waiting for a feedback for longer time than you and they don't complain. Instead of complaining why didn't you reply to the others who are waiting for a feedback for longer time than you? That's not fair at all! One other thing you probably don't know is that we can only post one comment every xx minutes (10 minutes I think) in order to prevent from spam bot then between each answer we have to wait which increase the answers delay. Im not a moderator but seriously why can't you just send a kind reminder instead in your first sentence?

Now about your track I'd say that the "someone" you're talking about is right. I guess he meant there's no instrument intro in your sound. It begins directly with a verse. Look at the original track there's an intro with percussions and an atmospheric sound. And the second problem which is for me a big issue is that OutKast looks offbeat. Well talking properly your instrumental is definitely off beat. There's like a shift between the voice and the instrumental. The instrumental looks too slow according to the voice. That's probably what "someone" meant by the fact you have to be more upbeat. I guess it's mainly produced by due to the kick and the clap that doesn't hit at the right moment. You'll have to try adjustments. Moreover the notes played by the chords and the bass looks too long then I'd say it also enhance this off beat issue. Not sure but maybe your instrument arent playing at the right key? (Im less sure for this question)

However the instrumental looks good even Im not a fan of the bass, maybe you can try other basses or play with the current one frequencies to see if it can sounds better. Then my advice would be to review all your percussions (try a rhythm like the original to begin then adjust it with your tastes). My second advice is try shortest notes (don't know if that will fit it) and finally my last advice is send kinder remind next time ;)

Cheers,
RD
