Why do i have to have WINE (Wine Is Not an Emulator) installed in the current stable version to run LMMS?

1st - i nead to use the WINE beta version, but that will remove LMMS, since it's a requirement.
2nd - why, for the sake of Stallman's grey beard and the bald forehead of Linus, do i need to use WINE to run LMMS!

And since it's related, why do I have to UNinstall Wine 1.3 in order to install LMMS? Is there a workaround I'm not aware of?
