Muting MIDI output

New to LMMS, running v1.2.1 on Linux. Have used other sequencers but looking at LMMS as it trims out a lot of the bloat in others. Primarily looking to write and output midi to external hardware. Setup was quick and easy and worked right out of the box which was nice. Also a plus is it plays nice with my HiDPI display.

Playing around with a sample song I've got 3 separate tracks - bass, melody, chords each outputting on a separate midi channel. I'm using a blank SF2 'instrument' as a placeholder since I'm not generating sound on the computer. However using the solo or mute buttons has no effect on the midi being output for the track. I'm sure if I were generating onboard sound it would solo/mute that sound. But in my case I'd like to mute and solo the track output to the midi interface and hardware so I can concentrate on composing only on active tracks with some parts muted.

Is this even possible? Or is there a hack/workaround?

Thanks in advance...

Its almost irrie that you ask that, because i am working on something like that. An option to export 'stems' to MIDI 😮

Yes there is a 'hack'
Save your project!
Delete every track, except one, and then export that alone
Reload full project
...Rinse and repeat

Its somewhat of a drag, but if you want to export a 'stems' in MIDI-note format, that is the only way
