Cannot Load VST plugin on Mac -Want it on linux also but HOW?

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hi all

How exactly do you load a VST plugin? I downloaded this plugin called Chip32 and I downloaded the mac version, I found I couldn't change the VST directory from the default cause it said that my change would only be applied after reopening the program though when I did so I found not of my changes had been applied.

So then I simply moved the VST into the default directory, but what should I do from there? I hear a lot of talk about needing to use wine with the VST
to get it to work, in that case should I have downloaded the windows version of the plugin or lmms? I'm really confused...
Im sorry, but afaik vst is not supported on mac yet.
I have heard of a way, where lmms it self was run inside wine, and symlinks was used to establish the paths, but that was pretty cumbersome
Well that sucks... How easy is it to get VSTs on Linux? I've tried that as well.
i actually meant to guide you to the wiki, but vst usage in linux, is really not explained. All i can say is that you do it through WINE, if you know WINE that is propl. enough. If not, someone with linux knowledge need to chime in
I am attempting to write that Linux wiki part.

Feel free to tell me if its not clear or if something is missing.

Short answer you need to install wine. ( I know little to nothing about mac, but you will need wine there too)
But as far as I know musicbear is right, although there are rumours of people who got it working on a mac.
I found this with google:

I have added GPSs linux & wine recommendations to the wiki
