I'm a newbie to the software and still learning a lot of things about it. And I started to work on a beat, but it bothers me because the audio jitters and the cpu usage is at maximum. I installed LMMS on a 32 bit windows xp. I know it's too old for a laptop, but can someone give me a hand on it? It would be a lot of help if I can decrease the cpu usage even a bit. Advanced thank you.

I installed LMMS on a 32 bit windows xp.

At least 1.1.3 ran fine on XP (sp3).
The Minimum System Requirements are however
OS: Windows 7, MacOS X Lion, Linux
CPU: 1.5 GHz x86, x86_64, or ARM-based CPU with 2 cores
RAM: 1 GB
Available Storage Space: 100 MB
The issue for you may be RAM(?)
I have not tested 1.1.3+ on XP, so whether or not XP can cope with the updates for VSTs that has found its way into LMMS recently, i do not know.
Generally, you should go through your task-manager, and shut absolute everything off, that does run, and is not necessary, -Including virus-scanner, you should also not be online. Then perhaps you can run on xp.
You should also attempt to pinpoint exactly when it is the cpu max out, there may be some plugins that are more cpu-intensive than others. Avoid those!

Thank you for the response. I'm currently using 1.2.2 version and sometimes it runs smoothly (only if there are no such plug-ins or tracks). I guess the main reason for this is my RAM or my processor (sorry I'm not really good at electronic stuffs)? However, may I know what is a "task manager" or where can I locate it? Also, I'll try to avoid plug-ins my cpu can't handle as much as possible.

"task manager" or taskMan is a control-panel for all your running processes, and is part of windows. You can read more about it here https://www.howtogeek.com/66622/stupid- ... k-manager/
Must say that to use it, a bit of knowledge is needed

I have located it already after some searching. Thank you for your help. I will be able to see my cpu status and programs that are running. And Umm do you think I should just get the older version of lmms that can run smoothly on my pc?

If you can run 1.2.2 on XP, then do that, but otherwise you find old versions in out back-library:

Thank you so much for the advice. I guess I have to stick with the current version I have and just do some adjustments.

to reduce 'release' in triple oscillator's env tab
for some instruments
it had major impact when i had weaker machine

yes, ENV is the second tab in 3xosc
between the default oscillators and the arpeggio/octaves stack tab
there is the ENVelope for volume, cutoff, and resonance
for volume, the last parameter is RELease
which can ease cpu if reduced to or near 0.
also as musicbear said you might have to be modest with stacking up lot of effects
3xosc and other simple generators with some effects should be okay.
back in the days my pc couldnt bear even a few simultaneous instances of ZynAddSFx
