Crashes when importing MIDIs

Hello. I've been having an issue with LMMS. You see, almost every single MIDI I try to import causes the program to freeze up (forcing me to shut it down with Task Manager).
The MIDIs work just fine in any other software I've opened them in, but only a small handful will actually open in LMMS with no problems.
My operating system is Windows 7, if that's important. I've also tried converting the MIDIs to different types (e.g. MIDI 0 to MIDI 1), and even separating and importing each track as a separate file. None of this helped at all.
This issue is driving me insane, so I'd really appreciate some help!

What default sf do you use?
It could be that the soundfont is damaged, and causes the problem -try changing to the one in resources
https://lmms.io/documentation/Useful_resources
If thats not it i would like to see one midi with this issue, can you upload one?

I might not be the one who started this thread, but I too have this issue. So, in retort, I bring an example of a MIDI file that wishes not to be loaded on LMMS but works just fine on everything else.

I'm having the same problem with that MIDI file. While importing it gets stuck at 66% and LMMS freezes. I have also tried importing it while leaving the "Default Soundfont File" blank in the settings, but I get the same result. I don't think the issue is related to soundfonts.

Thanks for reporting.

Just for interest, when I split that last MIDI file up into separate tracks (using MuseScore parts) they all seem to load into a project and play O.k. But every track has two associated Automation tracks, one for volume and one for pan which makes for a pretty big project (though that might be just how MuseScore saves the MIDIs).

A solution is already made, but tests are pending.
The splitting is interesting, though
The actual reason was however very different. Lmms was not hanging at all. There was a repeated message loop, and that made lmms appear as crashed.
8- 10 mins later the project does load, but this is unbearable, of cause. The test has 3-8 secd loading -(hw dependent oc).
But for now splitting the track, as you slipstick, have discovered, could be a workaround this bug. Its a nice heads up!

I'm interested in this 'fix'. Would you or someone else send me a Download Link so I can test this 'fix' with the 100's of MIDI's that I have but cannot use?

No, because current master has other issues, and cant be used for production, crashes and has loss of content. It is solely for debug
I strongly advice not to use 1.1.3zxy with any project, that you want to preserve

Repeats, and loops in a midi file will make an appearance of LMMS hanging, but it's not a crash.
When this happens just load the midi, and go do something else, It will eventually load.
Sometimes unknown soundfonts will make it slow to load also.
Some of my old midi projects, have all of the above, custom sound fonts, loops, and repeats.
