Incorrect Pitches

Noob question....

Some samples seem to have incorrect pitch both using the on screen keyboard or an external midi keyboard. Many give an E flat pitch when C is pressed, some give an F.

Is there something that I am missing here?

Or maybe my installation is corrupt?

Thanks for any info.

Regards,

Thomas

factory-samples? perhaps an example?
anyways, you can change the key on the insert to 'fit' the harmonics.
Some 3. party samples are so detuned that you will need to pitchbend them, but lmms can also do that (the pitch knob on the insert).

Thnks for the reply - I will check which samples are giving these incorrect pitches and try what you suggested also.

OK, have checked all within samples>instruments, here is what I have found :

Notes obtained at C4 on screen keyboard or midi kb checked against Korg Chromatic CA-1 tuner (calib A=440Hz) ...

basslap01.ogg F# (slightly flat)
bassslap02.ogg Eb
cello01.ogg F (very flat)
church_organ01.ogg C
church_organ02.ogg C
church_organ03.ogg C (slightly flat)
church_organ04.ogg C (slightly flat)
e_organ01.ogg Eb (slightly flat)
e_piano_accord01.ogg Eb (slightly sharp)
e_piano_accord02.ogg Eb (slightly flat)
flute01.ogg C (quite flat)
harpsichord01.ogg Eb
piano01.ogg Eb
piano02.ogg Eb (slightly sharp)
e_organ01.ogg Eb (slightly flat)
steel_guitar01.ogg Eb (slightly flat)
steel_guitar_heavy_distorted01.ogg Eb (slightly flat)
steel_guitar_medium_distorted01.ogg Eb (slightly flat)
steel_guitar_slight_distorted01.ogg Eb (slightly flat)
trumpet01.ogg C (quite flat)
violin_double_stop01.ogg Bb (slightly flat)
violin_fingered01.ogg Bb (slightly flat)
violin_pizzicato01.ogg Bb (slightly flat)

I have found the pitch control knob for a midi sample but that only allow detuning by as much as two semi-tones so that will not be enough to correct something that is Eb and should be C, a difference of three semi-tones!

good find, and you atre right. seams some of the samples are of low quality :/
the samples is btw an area that has been discussed for other more sinister.. reasons, and they may be significantly reduced in later releases
