I have an M-Audio Keystation 49 connected by USB. I'm using LMMS in Manjaro without jack. I cannot get LMMS to see the keyboard. I've tried every option in the MIDI setting and none worked. I have MIDI input selected in the SF2 player and have tried the lower numbers (--, 1, 2, 3, 4).

EDIT/UPDATE: I have tried to use aconnect and get 'Operation not permitted'

UPDATE: aconnect now works. Had the devices right but the channels wrong.

That is weird, did you first connect the midi keyboard , and then start LMMS ?

What version of LMMS are you using ?
