Up to a tiny quiz?
It goes like this:
The other day Gps posted a nice reggae tutorial
(If you like the genre, you should read:)
http://lmms.io/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3450

But here comes the Q
Mr Rastaa here says he uses FLs at a bpm of 123!

If YOU test that -What is then your measured bpm, and why

It is not very difficult at all, but its a neat little exercise in using the beat tool
http://www.all8.com/tools/bpm.htm
and understanding music structure.

-Sorry no prices :P

I am so tempted to start a rant about the no prices part. :P

For some part I suck at using that tool. Although it has helped me big time, I always seem to be off.

As in finding 70 for a 140 bpm song. I totally understand why this happens though.
In theory it does not matter if you set the bpm to 25,50 100 or 200.
or 30, 60,120 240. and so on.
And I wonder if this is, what this quiz is about.

But lets try that tool and his song, if I can find it.

I did it again I find 64 lol.

That must mean, the after beat sound is played every 8 counts ?

we still have weekend .. just another :p
Looks like reggae isent all that popular
so
@Gps, i think you say the right thing
its just that 'after-beat-sound' i dont really grasp
Could you rephrase and only refer to the 'kick'
'Competition ' still open.... Maaan :P

Something to think about.

Maybe like this

1000 1000 1000 1000 kick
0000 0010 0000 0010 reggae like cowbell or synth.

noone else will play :p
you are 'kind' of correct with your
0000 0010 0000 0010
but it is not a beat count, because that is always the kick
Look at the kick-line:
Image

so we have
1000 0000 1000 0000
eg
only every second beat actually has a kick
So when we beat-count we will only count ½ the actual BPM, because BPM is calculated for all beats in the timing signature (here 4/4)
His 123 bpm correlates ok with a manual count of 63.
