LMMS setup with Samson Graphite 49 MIDI keyboard.

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Anyone else using a Samson Graphite 49 MIDI keyboard? I would like to setup LMMS with my Samson Graphite 49 MIDI keyboard. I have no previous knowledge of LMMS or of MIDI keyboard controllers, but I have been studying a number of tutorials.

As a point of departure, I would like to setup LMMS for some basic things, such as so that I can use my keyboard for practicing my piano lessons. Here are the current concrete issues:

1) I would like to setup some of the master controls (master volume, pitch, etc.) The keyboard appears to have six channels that show up in LMMS, which channel do I use?
2) I would like to create a preset on my keyboard, that sets the majority of pads, faders, encoders, and buttons for LMMS, but that does not erase any of the factory preset presets, at least until I have a better idea of what I am doing ;-) a Any advice?
What operating system are you using?
I don't know about Samson Graphite specifically, but I think there are some universal midi principles. For my midi keyboard on Ubuntu using Jack, Lmms automatically detects the midi hardware and the controllers. It has awesome midi-learn capabilities. For example, for (almost) any parameter that you want to control, right click on it to bring up a menu, go to "Connect to controller"; in the pop-up window "Connection settings" make sure "Autodetect" is ON (yellow); next, spin a knob on your keyboard and you should see the CHANNEL and CONTROLLER spring to life with appropriate values (i.e., lmms is automatically detecting the controller messages from your hardware ); hit okay and repeat as desired for each parameter/controller combo. I think you can save all these parameters-CC combos as an lmms project and then use as a template.

I am using Ubuntu Studio 14.04. Thanks for the info.
No problem. Enjoy! Be sure to add your experience to the big list of hardware http://lmms.io/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1280
