Hi for some reason when I import a MIDI sound font it says that You do not have set up a default soundfont in the settings dialog (Edit->Settings). Therefore no sound will be played back after importing this MIDI file.
how do I fix this

set up a default soundfont in the settings dialog (Edit->Settings). is exactly what you should do, and i recommend you to get a "General-MIDI" soundfont. That will let you get access to all the midi-instruments that a modern sound-card has as standard library
