I am using Windows 10. I have just downloaded LMMS. My very first experience of a DAW. I want to be able to record a keyboard being played so that I can play back on the same keyboard. I can get a note on the pc to sound on the keyboard (so midi out is working) but when I play a note on the keyboard, I just get a continuous sound in the pc.
The keyboard is a Yamaha PSR-GX76.
I first set up LMMS with a Yamaha PSR-36 and midi worked ok in both directions, but that is not the keyboard that the pianist (my wife !!) wants to use.
Is it possible that we could have a setting up issue that would only affect the PSR-GX76 ?

In current LMMS there are no sound record feature, in is under development -sort of..
-but i am not even sure that is what you want to do?
This sentence confuse me:
but when I play a note on the keyboard, I just get a continuous sound in the pc.
That continuous sound is that a noise artefact, or is it the correct pitch of the key played on the MIDI-Keyboard?
If you have a noise-artefact, it could be because you use the wrong backend in Settings: https://docs.lmms.io/user-manual/gettin ... o-settings
If you get a correct note played, then that is what is expected.
But i believe that you want to capture the note that is being played?
That is possible in two ways:
In piano-roll you have the transport-buttons:
It is the two middle buttons that we want to use.
From the left the 2. one will only capture or 'record' all notes being played on your MIDI-keyboard.
The 3. button will also capture all notes played, but at the same time all notes in the project in the same timeslot will be played simultaneously, and i actually believe that this feature : Play+capture is what you want.
Here is a video, where a PC-keyboard is used, but otherwise there are no difference.
Thank you so much for your interest. Today it is behaving slightly differently. I will take you through every step I have taken today.
I started with Edit, Settings, Midi Settings. WinMMMIDI appears there and I leave it there
I go to Actions for the Triple Oscillator track and select the MIDI keyboard image and select for Input US2.0 MIDI and the same for Output.
To be on the safe side, I restart LMMS and go through those steps again.
I double click to get the piano roll for the Triple Oscillator. I hit keys on the virtual pc keyboard and those notes sounds correctly on the Yamaha keyboard. All seems well so far ( MIDI Out is clearly working). I note that for each note a green vertical line appears briefly bottom left under Master in the FX Mixer. (In my ignorance, I don't know what that green line signifies - I imagine it represents volume.)
If I now hit a key on the Yamaha keyboard, a green vertical line appears in the same place under Master in the FX Mixer but no sound is made by the pc (the correct note is sounded on the Yamaha). The green line does not disappear. If I press more keys on the Yamaha, the green line gets taller and starts bobbing up and down a bit, and a bit of crackling noise starts to be heard.
Not quite the same as yesterday, but still obviously not coping with MIDI In.
Your advice is much appreciated.
Best regards
John

Hello everyone! Hope you doing well. Are you looking for Sears Credit Card Activation or do you want to log in to Sears Credit? If yes, then luckily you have arrived at the right place to the lookout.
Here in this post, I have mentioned all the essential things to activate a sears card such as how to activate online or by phone.
Check whether your keyboard is going to lower octaves. Make sure it's going A3-A5.
Alternatively, send a video of the problem?
The problem is the same throughout the range of the keyboard.
Ok.. so you do not have soundoutput from your MIDI-keyboard connected to LMMS.
Issues could be:
* Wrong connection sequence
Unplug keyboard & and remove power cable.
Then shut down computer -completely -Pull the plug!
Then
Insert midi-conector cable
Insert midi-keyboard power cable and turn MIDI-kb ON
(Some lights should get lid)
Insert pc power cable!
Start PC
Start LMMS
Look for your keyboard in MIDI-menu https://docs.lmms.io/user-manual/4-prod ... using-midi
* Flawed cable
Borrow a cable, and try with that!
(btw -sorry for your post being infected with idiocracy -That post will be removed by our stop-spam service
The procedure for unplugging, switching on and off etc made no difference.
The User Manual refers to a MIDI Tab within the Instrument Editor. I cannot find anything called Instrument Editor.
Instrument Editor is simply the UI of every lmms-instrument:
The first tab 'Plugin' is unique for each instrument, but all the other tabs are shared (except for zynadsubfx and LB302, they do not have a ENV/LFO tab.
But all has a MIDI-tab -The keyboard-icon, and that is where you have to make the settings.
Here i have to admit, that i never done that, i do not own a MIDI-keyboard 😊
