Anything that doesn't fit into other topics goes here!
No idea if people wil lbe interested in this, but we will see.

Music you like, but wich it totally not cool to admitt you like it.

I'll of course start:

Lynn Anderson - Rose Garden

Divine a fat guy in a dress, no fun to look at, because I am not gay, and into this stuff, but I still love this disco.
People who are offended by gay people and drag queens better not watch.

First vid is just the music with a pic of the vynill, so that one is safe.

Not cool in what way? Admit to whom?

I'm going have to think really hard on this one... Don't expect an answer soon.
This is going to be a toughy. :geek:
It might take a while.

This topic should not be taking too serious, but lets take disco as an example.
When that started, it was totally uncool to like disco.

A lot thought of it as stupid simple commercial repetitive music.

An example of a dutch band that had a small hit, complaining about disco. ;)

If you would see my playlist (12 gig of mp3) you could see, I don't care what other think of my taste of music. ;)

There is Rosegarden Lyn Anderson and Deep Purple in it, to name two rather different, genre's.
Even George Michael - careless whispers
Can't help you here. Everything I like I'm happy about. If anyone else doesn't like it then they're the ones with no taste ;).

Oh and I like stuff from Hildegard von Bingen (11th century) via Bach to Steve Reich, from Robert Johnson to Ella Eyre via just about everyone who made a record in the 60s or 70s, even the Sex Pistols and much more. Music is music.

I am an antichrist, I am an anarchist ...
Well, I don't know if this counts.
But I like some Jpop and J rock type music too.
This is from a young singer famous in Europe called Yohio.
It's called Sky Limit.
Note: I didn't know Yohio dressed up as anime dolls. Lol! :P

His dad, is a big time old school rocker from Europe too.
Older people might know about his dads music.

The same song linked above, it was even used as the intro for the famous Naruto cartoon series for a while.

Alot of people who know about Naruto, will recognise the Sky Limit song in no time. :)
I'm sure alot of people outside of Europe, have no idea who Yohio is or especially what he looks like.
The first above link shows what he looks like. So now you know.
I always thought the singer of Sky Limit was Japanese, but deep down I always had a suspicion, there was much more to the singer.
-> POPULAR MUSIC <- My definitive answer to this topic.

I've had my fair share of pop music in my teenage years. Not much wrong with that, right? If there's any point in life when you should enjoy pop music to the fullest, it's in your teenage years, right?

Eventually I got away from the mainstream, and ventured into all sorts of indie/underground electronic music. But it's only in retrospect that I fully understand why I had done so, and why I felt that pop music was lacking something and I had to distance myself from it.

Nowadays I barely listen to anything pop music related. Heck, I don't even know what's currently topping the charts. A bit out of touch with the current state of the music industry, but at least I kept my sanity by not being brainwashed by an overdose of pop music.

Below is a video of a guy launching a massive assault on the current pop music industry. While I don't agree on some points made in the video, I do agree with his overall message. That is, pop music (industry) of today sucks, and in many disgusting and horrific ways.

With this post I may seem to be externalizing an internal struggle (maybe I secretly do enjoy pop music after all), but I assure you that the tracks I listen to and the tracks I make are much more in favor of anything non-pop than pop.
