Hi.
Is it possible to mute or solo several tracks at once? isn't there some kind of shortcut? Like Ctrl+Shift+Click on solo as in other DAWs? I went to the settings and didn't find anything related to soloing/muting.
When I solo a track only that track soloes and the others get unsoloed. I haven't found a way to solo several tracks quickly.

Soloing is the same as muting all other tracks, so either making it possible to solo several tracks or mute all tracks would be equally useful to me, though I'd prefer the latter.

If you want to play several tracks out of many you can "solo" one, which mutes everything else....and then unclick mute on other individual tracks to switch them back on. That gives several tracks playing and all the others muted.

When finally you unclick "solo" that will unmute ALL of the tracks back to normal.

At least that's how it works on LMMS 1.1.3 on Win7.

I just found it by experimenting. Not quite clicking at random but close. I think it's fair to say that documentation isn't really a strong point of LMMS. It's moving so fast that it must be difficult to keep up with changes.

And since I was one, I know exactly how hard it is to get programmers to update documentation....there are always bugs to fix and enhancements to code and they're much more interesting .

I can understand what you say about documentation, but I think this is a very important and dependable point. LMMS is the only DAW I know in which Muting/Soling works this way. I would have never guessed, and I'm quite sure a lot of newbies like me out there still think it's not possible to Solo several tracks and instead manually mute every single other track.

If the Muting system isn't going to change anytime soon then I think it would be worth it and very valuable to put something like Steve's explanation in the documentation.

I think this is where I have an advantage in not knowing how other DAWs work. It seemed reasonable to me that I might be able to switch on a couple of other tracks so I tried it and it worked. Total time taken about 30 seconds.

Of course it doesn't actually make sense to talk about SOLO working on several tracks because solo means specifically ONE thing. But I'm glad it works as it does. It's sometimes very useful to listen to just 2 or 3 tracks together to find clashes etc. I hope no-one decides to change it.

Me too. I think it's a very interesting system. I only wish for it to be documented.
