Problem with sound coming from speaker vs headphones

I have a very good pair of headphones, and my beats are sounding ok through the speaker, but when I throw on the headphones it sounds way quieter and more distorted. Any experience in this area would be appreciated. I know its best to not make music from headphones, so Im trying to remedy this. Thanks

This is not simple to answer because we don't know the quality of the speakers, vs the quality of your headphones.

Your music will always sound different, depending on what you use to listen to it.

What output quality do you get from an other player, f.i. audacity or VLC through headphones if you play some file as LMMS is OPEN
Does you get clean output, or distorted output?
We also need to know your:
* Name of your Operative System (Windows/ Linux/ Mac) And subtype (Home' 'Mint' '10.13' aso)
* lmms version, and the site where you got it from
* lmms sound device chosen
