Some questions about Peak Controller

Hi everybody, I have a couple of questions about the Peak Controller:
1.Imagine I place the Peak Controller into the FX section of a kickdrum in AFP. Does the volume ADSR of the kick affect the Peak Controller?
2. What does the knob MULT in the Peak Controller?
3. What is "Absolute Value"?

Many thanks in advance!

I think the peak controller s used for side chaining.

I doubt this is the right way to side chain though.

Edit:
The right way, to do side chaining:

Yo, thanks for your input, but I've already watched several videos on side chaining (these two included) and so far I haven't found anything that solves my questions above. I also checked out the LMMS documentation without success.

But aside from that, I'm not sure, if there is THE correct way to do side chaining. I actually believe, that both techniques you have posted are valid their own way. Both techniques do actually very different things, but lead to quite similar results: The first one triggers volume, the second triggers compression. Two totally different parameters. I have tried both techniques and for my purposes, I believe the first one suits better to me. Recently I also found another video, where a user links the Peak Controller to the Volume knob of an amplifier. Here in this video at 1:44 https://youtu.be/CHwejNi93kk?t=104 Which is probably even better, than connecting the Peak Controller to an FX channel.

The peak controller, I believe, is just a proxy tool that displays the output of a sound. If volume of the sound is high, the peak controller displays a large output. Now, since the ADSR is a part of the volume envelope, as volume increases the output of the peak controller also increases. So, it is connected to ADSR, as the output envelope of the peak controller is directly connected to the input sound put into it.
The peak controller is just a proxy tool. it is useful for joining one thing's volume output to another, but means nothing by itself. It's like a volume display whose display number can be connected.
MULT means multiplicator. So, if your sound is soft but you want the sidechaining or whatever to be done intensely, then you increase the mult, so that the peak controller output is n* times larger than the input sound, so you can use it with more impact.
Oh, I just found an lmms.io docs page for peak controller! Hold on https://docs.lmms.io/user-manual/6-buil ... controller
This should be of use. However, now the real question is, what does it mean if absolute value is disabled? I guess it takes volume, like RMS...

Excellent! Many thanks, this is very helpful!
