You'll need to choose a LInux distro that is compiled for one or the other. They are not interchangeable. Once you verify that, just install LINUX following this article and voila! you can run lmms. However, be aware that Chromebooks are not the most powerful devices out there, so you may have issues doing CPU intensive tasks and have to make audio driver latency adjustments if things get too sluggish.
