Vst plugin doesn't sound right.

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1F-vVi1 ... sp=sharing link to how it sounds in lmms
I wanted to recreate this track (It was created in flstudio10): https://www.youtube.com/shorts/-W6_6WHBm1Q So naturally I used the same vst plugin that was in it(Magical8bitplug note: both versions had the same problem). What the problem is that even if I had the same settings and notes in this part of the melody it still sounded different like more 8 bit than it should. Then I started looking for possible solutions. What I found is that in this recreation of the track it sounds like it shouldhttps://youtu.be/n3_zuTGk3q0?t=38. So now I'm really confused. I'm not entirely sure what's why it sounds different besides it being a different program. So without any solutions I could come up with I wanted to ask if you possibly have one.
Reduce the note length of every second note to half or one-fourth of its current size, or more, until it starts sounding about right.
Transpose it an octave down (Ctrl-DownArrow) and see if that helps, too, but reduce the note length of the off-beat notes first.

If the sound itself is still different and feels too tuned: Use an EQ to reduce a little bit of the midrange around where the fundamental frequency and the first one or three harmonics might fall, if you'd like that. However, this changes the original sound, and, because you said "same settings and notes" this is a last resort.

There is a not disclosed 'secret' in FLs.
The Master channel actually has some effects pr default.
There is a compression, and on top of that FLs has an automatically 'crunch' on overlapping notes.
LMMS has neither.
Because of that, you cant get the same sound in lmms if you use midi-notes from a FLs-project.
Its not because FLs is 'better', it is just different
The crunching is why Monospace advise you to shorten notes, but it is not simple to get the correct notelength you have to fiddle with that.
Lastly i will say what i use to say when peeps 'recreate' a track:
why not give the recreation your own touch? Recreation is boring, re-inventing is exciting! -imo..

Besides that, since you are new in Forum

Umm so like all the notes are compressed so that they have a crunch at the end? Basically I downloaded the program like 3 days ago and I'm not really familliar with the terms of stuff.
Tho thanks for the reply. I would do a cover Ig maybe? But in this case I want to be able to accurately replicate the track, cause I want to make a fangame if you are familliar with that term (I will not use the same track but I want to understand how this one works so later I can do a simillar one that fits the tone of the atmosphere). I actually did recreate that part by listening to the track, and I only watched that video to see if the melody sounds like the original or like mine.
Cool! I'd love to hear the racks in the fangame if you make one.
I don't use FL myself, so I'mjust using my ears for reference here. Try shortening every second note, and maybe transposing everything an octave down.
Me personally, I'm not experienced enough to hear compression, and I do not understand, with my limited knowledge, how compression can cause a crunch- unless perhaps you use a very hard knee and strong ratio...? But it seems like it might be too blatant.
You might want to install a trial FruityLoops yourself, OP, and take a look on whether they actually preset the master with effects, and if yes, which effects they use with what settings. Seems kinda suspicious... 🤨
Though while the compression thing makes sense for why notes are so short, I still feel like the first note is longer than the second note, and unless you automate it, a slow-attack or delayed compressor can't do that with any sort of configuration.
So I did what you asked and you were actually right about the notes being too long. Thank you! But yeah I'm still not sure if the default pitch is right.

The higher notes, the ones you just shortened, select all of them (using the selection tool, or Ctrl-drag mouse over region). Reduce all of their volume slightly. Reduce the length some more, too.
And if it still sounds different bring them down an octave (Ctrl- Down Arrow), maybe bring the lower ones down an octave too after that if it sounds off. It sounds very similar. But I feel like there's an octave / volume issue here not an EQ issue...
