LMMS keeps crashing

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Title says it all. I didn't have this issue with the last version of LMMS, not this much anyway. It's only with this new version, which I downloaded after I restored my laptop to its factory state, that it crashes all the time.

I'm on windows vista, my laptop is an Asus if that helps. I'm really not good with technology and computer jargon, which is why LMMS suited me pretty well, it was so easy to learn and use for my simple projects. That was until I downloaded the latest version and it started to crash all the time.

So, what might cause this? I read in one thread that Skype caused their Lmms to crash but I don't have Skype so I can't even test that. What other known reasons are there?

Help very much appreciated.
Its not an easy thing to answer.. you could have something 'wrong' on your pc, and that could be software -like virus, or hardware, like a fault on a sector of harddisk, or a ram-issue.

a thing i forgot, because i never do it.. But if you are one of the peeps that almost never turn their pc OF, but only 'sleep-mode' it, when it is not in use, then you should turn it off completely, through the right dialog (shut-down). You could have a lot of mess in memory, and that will cause crashing
(it will btw also cost ~50€ / year in idle power consumption .. :/

But is LMMS the only application that fails? -Then it would be a good idea to completely remove lmms from your pc, including the folder that you used to install it
Copy all your own stuff to a safe place first!!!
The use vista un-install for lmms
Make sure there is no second installation of lmms!!
Delete the folder that that you used to install it in
Download a fresh install-packet
Install
Hopefully that will work better for you
Lets know how it went
I actually switched to lmms 1.1.2 just because it used to work better, and it doesn't crash as frequently but it still crashes. Although you couldn't tell its an older version because the interface looks just like the new one.

If the crashing becomes too much I'll try to delete everything. It could very well be that that my laptop has too much crap, it's pretty old. I have also left it in sleep mode a lot in the past but not lately.
