Appimage scaling issue

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hi, I am relatively new to LMMS (about 1 year) and am loving it but I am having issues with VTS plugins in the version from my distro repo.
I know it is not recommended to run that version and I found some other posts and YouTube videos about the issue and they all say run the Appimage, I have no issue with the Appimage format but the LMMS Appimage is not picking up on my scaling for my laptop.
My laptop is a small 14" but has a good HD+ display that requires it's users to have good eyes on some things often.
However the LMMS image is not picking up on that and instead is scaling it's self so huge that I can't get 2 bars on the roll editor in the screen.

Between the two issues, it is beginning to seem like I am just out of luck...
If anyone knows how to
A: reinstall vestige on my disto version (it is not an out-of-date issue, they supply 1.2.1)
or, B: get the screen size issue resolved on the Appimage (it is non-functional on the stable and nightly releases)

I would really appreciate the input!

Thanks! -FaliurePoint

1.2.1 is pretty outdated.
I recommend 1.3 alpha AppImage
It should long ago have been off-released.

Sizing LMMS can be done with scripts
as root user create a file and name it

Code: Select all

gnome-qt.sh
Place this file in

Code: Select all

/etc/profile.d directory
Open the file in editor and type :

Code: Select all

export QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=0
Thank you for the help on scaling! it fixed the issue. but now I am finding to my horror that VST plugins still do not work.
I am using 64 bit (that's what my system is) VST2 plugins, I have wine installed I have tried it with yabridge (not sure if I configured it right though) and without it and I still can't load my plugins! I would do it with a VM at this point on Windows instead but it is to laggy and slow... any input? I am really lost and frustrated. this is my first try at music production on Linux.
if it helps any, the plugins I am trying to load are both synth and filter plugins.

Thanks. -FailurePoint.

Only use WINE, other bridgeing add-ons can cause issues.
But WINE is tricky. You must make sure that you have the correct type for your installed distro. I recommend you to ask the pacMan for your distro, or LINUX musician-forum. They know a lot about using WINE (I do not

Lastly there is a small risk that your chosen VST has issue with LMMS
try MDA-Piano http://mda.smartelectronix.com/synths.htm
It is very small in size, and you can just copy its dll to your VST-folder. Further its a quite good piano-instrument, so it is a win win
Lets know the outcome :)
I know 32 bit vst work, not sure about 64 bit vst.

As far as I know this is because of wine not yet fully supporting 64 bit.
