Long sample tracks make LMMS incredibly slow

For some reason, whenever I load a long sample into a sample track, it makes LMMS incredibly slow. That is, the responsiveness of the UI goes way down.

Anyone else have this problem, or anyone else know what's causing this?

sample-track is alas, the least functional feature in lmms. work is being done.
I recommend you use audacity for all long samples

audacity is a free audio editor
http://audacityteam.org/
Unfortunately, you will have to clip paste and the what-not in audacity, and use all those sound-cuts as jigsaw pieces in lmms. It is really not good, but it has shown to be a very difficult thing to 'fix'
The current conclusion is unfortunately, that lmms handles long samples badly. everyone wants that to be better, but there is no simple solution
Except mine :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-4G_5d1ggU

I just couldn't resist it -It wont be implemented.

It could also be possible, that the long sample you're using, has a huge/large file size also.

Or, do as musikbear said, use Audacity to cut and snip out all of the parts, you want to use from the sample.

Or use Audacity, to crunch down the file size.
But that (according to the program used) might sometimes result, in a slightly lower quality sample, with a reduced file size.
