How to deactivate Vsts using the text editor

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hey,
Lmms works fine, but after the implementation of some Vsts and saving the project Lmms wont let me open the project again; it stucks in the loading process when it comes to loading the vst instrument.

Is there a way to remove or deactivate the vst instrument afterwards?
In this case it was only 20 minutes of work, but its not acceptable for the future to waste all the time :(

Best regards, Daniel
yes there is, and you do not need to edit the file in a code-editor.
Just move or rename the folder where you have all your vst's, or perhaps even simpler - change the path in-side lmms, the result is the same :). Now lmms will look in a 'wrong' place, and simply show a popup saying that the vst could not be found. Then the project opens, without the problem-vst
You can now remove it, close lmms, 'backname' or backmove the folder, and everything is back to normal.
What was the name of the vst that caused your problem?
Hey, thank you so much, that saved my day! :D

It was Ethereal Harp: http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?pl ... rp&id=2167
Nice to hear that
it was Ethereal Harp: http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?pl ... rp&id=2167
I will look on that- Thanks
Aww, too bad.. was trusting in it now, at least I dared to work out a bigger project, was sitting on it the last 6 hours or so, whole night :D
Did 3 backups during that run but unfortunately lmms crashed in the last moment before rendering to wave, just wanted to add a sample and it crashed in the file browser of the AudioFileProcessor -.-
This time the harp was loaded but this time "DSK Overture" ( http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?pl ... re&id=1090 ) destroyed it all and caused a crash when loading, thought ah, keep calm you can fix it by changing the vst folder and then load it again, but no, was using 8+ vsts, had an entire orchestra and needed to save the file with no vsts loaded, when restarting lmms again with the correct folder setup it messed up with all the vst settings of overture, the internal instruments, parameters and even worse the piano roll isnt what is was before for overture, sometimes the melodies are shifted from C3 up to C7 etc etc. Luckily I got 2 yet untouched Save copies, from 1 hour ago or so, is there a way of opening them with lmms without overwriting / erasing / confusing the melodies and overture instruments / parameters?
haha, nevermind, wanted to finish it before going to bed, percussion is a bit messed due to that crash / vst thing, but suprisingly it worked thanks for your help though! :)

@ Uhrwerk131 -This quite important!
If you had file changes and these are changes in note ao. pitch, then a serious bug is hiding in core of engine.
I would like to see that project-file. I can however only analyze it as a mmp, and i seriously doubt that a corrupted project will be able to convert to mmp.. But
Could you let me have the failed project? -I ofcause wont use any of your work, nor will i publish.
sure, nothing to hide, just learning lmms :) and thanks so much for your interest in helping!
Seems like almost every project that contains more then 4 vsts has the loading error for some reason. You need to finish the project in one run without closing the application :D this is the latest mmp of the project mentioned above:

Thanks, i will see if i can get some info out of it, and let you know.
I have no problems opening the project. But thats only because i dont have the vsts.

I can see you use a lot of DSK vsts. I must say that i have the longest loadtimes with vst's from dsk in general. Especially 'Etheral Pads'. I cant say if the one you used are build in the same way as 'etheral', but the thing is:
Most vst's are around 1-11 mb sized dlls. 'Etheral' is 80! If those dsk dlls you use are build in the same way, it would take really long time to load, and i suspect that it is not a hang, but a wait, you are looking at..
I can replace all the dlls with simple 3oc if you like and. Then you have all the notes intact, but you should be able to load the project yourself too, if you make a path changes in either lmms or in your install-folder.
Let me know if you want a 3oc version of the project.
