How big of a soundfont is too big?
I'm trying to use this soundfont: https://musical-artifacts.com/artifacts/3085
but when I try to use it in the Sf2 Player, nothing happens.
Is it because the file (~4.1 GB) is way too big?

What vers. LMMS do you have?
Does the Sf2 work in other circumstances? (if testable)
4.1GB is serious BIG though, but if you have the RAM for it.. I dont think it should lead to issues. LMMS also support GIGAs -They can be even bigger : o

I've got LMMS 1.2.2, and I don't have any other programs where I can test whether it works there. Do you know of any free programs I could get to test effectively?
Plus, I'd like to think 16 GB of RAM would be enough, but I'm not sure.

Sorry it wont work over GB size. I vaguely remembered that there was some type of restraint and KAM told me, he knew.
There is a dependency called FluidSynth, and that version we use does not allow the huge SF2 files.
There is being work done in Beta to include a new version of FluidSynth. I scanned for that in our gitHub, but there are only some pre-version, where few other features are included.
It will take a while before large SF2-fonts are useable
