Is it possible to drag controls onto automation tracks from third party vst plugins? I wanna do something with autotune to create some noise and experiment but I am unable to, is there any way to do this in lmms?

Yes there is an interfase especially for that.
On The UI click the wrench-icon

That opens a new UI that could look something like this

Each of the dials represent one controller from the VST, and can be dragged into your automation-track
