It will be clear to you, but I still don't understand what I need to change...
which of the various items should I change? The first? I tried changing it to the LMMS directory where the effects dlls are located but it doesn't even see them like that
When you make a default installation LMMS, you get two different LMMS-libraries.
The first is for LMMS' own files. If we expand this library the path look like
C:\Program Files\LMMS\plugins\ladspa\VSTeffects
That library is made by Windows during the installation process, and it belongs 100% to Windows!
You should regard Windows as owner and Administrator for any library you find in either Program Files and Program Files(X86).
Those two libraries are of-the-limit for users!
Never do anything manually in those libraries (unless you are a superuser with special knowledge and tools).
The second library that is created is in your USER domain is
C:\Users\<YourUserName>\Documents\lmms\
Here you have ALL LMMS folders that belongs to You, and in those folder all Your own files!
One of the folders in this library is Samples
C:\Users\<YourUserName>\Documents\lmms\samples
This is where you should copy all your VST-Instruments to!
You should make a top-subfolder and subfolders for everyone that uses banks or art-work, else it will get confusing and messy!
But you also find the folder plugins!
C:\Users\<YourUserName>\Documents\lmms\plugins
Thát folder is where all your own VST-Effects should be placed!
You should make a top-subfolder and subfolders for everyone that uses banks or art-work, else it will get confusing and messy!
For your clean-up you need to move everything you have in Program-files, and place it in the correct folders of your
C:\Users\<YourUserName>\Documents\lmms\
Simplest way out of current mess, is to backup all you know you have made or copied to folder inside Program-files, and uninstall LMMS completely. Get a new 1.3-Alpha, install it default, and copy the backuped files into the correct folders.
Let us know the outcome :)
