Complete Guide for Using Wine LMMS on Ubuntu
Complete Guide for Using Wine LMMS on Ubuntu
by Urie W
Hey guys, I finally learned how to use LMMS on Wine, Vestige and all, since Linux LMMS to just too dang hard to use with plugins!
README!!!!!!!: THIS MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT WORK WITH YOUR LINUX WINE INSTALL, PLEASE TREAD CAREFULLY!!!!!!!!!!
What You Need:
A computer
An Ubuntu install
Wine installed on Ubuntu
Windows version of LMMS
ANYTIME, ANYTHING ELSE, FOR WINDOWS LMMS!!!
Instructions:
Install windows LMMS via Wine. You may need to edit Wine to run a virtual desktop setting, before turning Wine back to normal, in this next step.
Open LMMS, and choose 'no windows/borders' in the window API settings, and save. Play around with LMMS to test, as the graphics shouldn't clip at all, even with plugins like Sforzando and DSK Guitars.
Optional Steps:
for Vestige:
Vestige, this way, should load every window AND plugin, without any issues, except OS compatibility, only that its Windows LMMS, and any other OS' plugins should crash it, like Carla.
Install the plugins you want, using each plugin's instructions, and open LMMS. In your track, add a Vestige track and open it. Choose the Windows folder of your plugin, or its Linux folder, if you installed the plugin in a Linux folder, as its loaded plugin target, choose the plugin, and press Okay/Open/Whatever to load it. Press "show/open/hide GUI" in the Vestige, and the display for the plugin loaded will seamlessly load and work as if you're using Windows, with no Linux plugin frustrations needed.
Let me know if there's any problems, because I tried it with 64-bit LMMS and it works out of the box, so far...
