Hello !

On LMMS 1.2.2
(Windows 11,
64-bit operating system, x64-based processor,
Processor : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8086K CPU @ 4.00GHz (4.01 GHz)
RAM : 64,0 GB)

I cannot use any VST plugin at all :

Every time I try to load any VST plugin in VeSTige, the screen freezes for a half second, but nothing happens (there is no error message) and VeSTige still displays "No VST-plugin loaded".

I already tried reinstalling LMMS but it did not fix this issue.

Does anyone know how to fix it ?

1. Did you run Lmms as admin?
2. Did you try a window API setting for lmms, a new one for me?
3. Did you uninstall/install any graphics/audio drivers messing with LMMS?
4. Did you install the wrong LMMS version?
5. Did you reset LMMS' settings or mess it up with a new driver being chosen?

Thank you for your quick reply.

1. Yes I tried running LMMS as admin, no change.

2. I have no idea how to do that

3. Yes, no luck with that

4. It is the right (x64) version, not the win32 version

5. It is a fresh install, no weird setting changes.

PS : Soundfont files work perfectly, the issue is with VST files specifically.

For #2, sometimes, many vsts will have trouble being used thanks to either the ways they were installed/used, e. g., an Lmms native vst used in vestige crashing Lmms, or the window draw settings in Lmms' config, which should pop under 'draw/win/api window method' under its regular settings by selecting to change them in the top drop down list of lmms.

I suggest you look for that and tell me what happened, after checking your vsts' main install method, which is either alongside all other plugins, or being used in vestige...

I have no idea where to find that. There is no option like that in the parameters window, and I can't find a config file in LMMS's installation folder. could you please explain where to find this so I can answer properly ?

You should use 1.3 -but NOT Nightly
That said, 1.22 does load VSTs but not VST3. No LMMS version does that.
But here is an instruction on how to use both VST-effects and instruments:

Open lmms and go to edit, then on its dropdown, settings.

there the window api draw method settings can be found on the fly, in "plugin embedding" and set as you like.

if vestige crashes anyway, then there's a chance that the vst you're using in it, is a native lmms vst, and has to be loaded
like you're loading vestige itself, like it's own plugin track, etc...

It doesn't fix the issue. I used those exact same vst plugins in an old version of LMMS 10years ago and they worked just fine, but now they are not loaded...

Ah that's what you meant ! My bad, I thought you were talking about something else since the name in the setting is different that the one you used in your original explanation.
I already tried the 3 different settings available even before posting in here.

As I said before, those are "old" VSTs that worked with lmms 10 years ago on my laptop computer, but now on my desktop computer they don't load.
I tried every possible settings combination, and uninstalling/reinstalling LMMS but the issue persists...
