Cannot re-open project after LMMS crashes

I'm on Windows 10, using LMMS 1.2.2 (Win 32).

I just spent hours on adding to a song cover I was doing, only for all of a sudden the program to crash.

I can't re-open the project anymore; anytime I do, LMMS crashes. So I assume the file is corrupted.

Worse, my back-up file didn't save anything I did in those hours. I dunno what happened to auto-save.

Is there a way I can at least save the new notes and tracks I made? I would hate to have to do everything all over again.

And for the record, I never used a VST. I tried using it but since I don't have any, I deleted the track from my song roll.

Any help would be appreciated.

I think that there is a command line option to uncompress the .mmpz using the lmms exe unless of course the actual Gzip is corrupt (I am about to go to sleep and wasn't able to work it out quick enough).

From there you may be able to open the .mmp in a text editor and pull out the part of the data that you need and paste it into another .mmp (fingers crossed the part you need is not corrupt).

Sadly no. Evans suggestion wont work on a corrupted file. What puzzles me is that you do not have any backup at all. Have you looked for both the emergency-backup AND the .BAK file??
LMMS provides TWO safety backups, something that is unique afaik.
At least one of them should be there, unless you manually have disabled them.
When you open LMMS after a crash You should get this warning when you open LMMS

Did you see that screen???
Of cause here choose recover
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO NOT LOAD OTHER FILES IN LMMS BEFORE YOU HAVE LOOKED FOR BACKUPS!!!
The emergency backup will be overwritten!!
Please read: https://docs.lmms.io/user-manual/production/safety
Then if you not get any popup informing you that there is an emergency backup, your last chance is to look for your .BAK file. That has to be there unless you have your version of LMMS not from us, but from some random site.
Let us know the outcome.

Besides that, since you are new in Forum
