I'd also suggest saving a copy of the project before trying any major changes. It makes it much easier to experiment without worrying about losing your original work. Really helpful thread!
Want to remind everyone that LMMS has a special feature for version-control. Under File use the menu-item Save as new version.
It will create a new savefile with a version number added, and that can be used if you want to roll your project back to an earlier state.
