Workflow tips to keep projects clean and organized in LMMS

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using LMMS for a while, and one thing I still try to improve is keeping projects clean and easy to manage, especially when they start getting bigger.

For example I started grouping similar instruments, naming tracks clearly, and using color labels to avoid confusion later. It helps a lot when going back to a project after some time.

I also try to keep patterns short and reusable instead of making long ones, so editing becomes easier.

I’m curious how others handle this. Do you follow any simple rules or habits to keep your workflow organized and efficient?

Would be interesting to hear different approaches.

As new to LMMS and maybe also to DAWs in general(?) perhaps my video Rookie-guide can be useful for you. Link in my signature!

Using colors and always label all instruments, and keeping track of automations is a good thing, so i think you already are in a good place. Just the fact that you give this a thought, is more than a lot of other SAW users does.

Many years ago i made a looooong video of what i felt was 'best practice'. It is still relevant, but LMMS now has better usage of colors for structure in projects
If you choose to watch it, you can speed it up. 1.5 wont hurt..
