No sound, despite following tutorial (Windows)

New to production, got LMMS on a recommendation for a simple platform that supports basic VSTs and MIDI controller input (I have a nanoKontrol 2 that I want to use just to get my hands on knobs, I learn a little better that way)

I have no sound output. I can load an instrument, drag it into the beat editor, doubleclick the instrument to enter it, and striking any keys in the instrument piano part causes the mixer volume to show sound but nothing comes out.

I found this tutorial and followed the steps: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=283
I only have one sound tab, the driver name is RTKVHD64.sys. I tried that with SDL as the driver option, but after saving, exiting LMMS and re-entering, I don't get any sound. I removed the .sys and closed/reopened, but no changes.

Anything else I can try?

I only have one option, because you have already done everything in the book/ wiki

I would like you to disconnect your midi-keyboard, and shut everything down, then reboot your pc without midi-keyboard connection.
Open lmms and select the SDL sound-devise. Shut lmms down, and reopen it so the change will be valid, and then use your pc-keyboard to envoke note-events.
Can lmms make any sounds then
Also try to load one of the demo-projects, and play that, for instance "demo1.mmp".

(non of the sliders for master volume is accidentally at 0 -right? :)
