Well, I installed LMMS on a Lenovo x64 laptop (G-575), with Zorin9 (Linux) dual-boot (+Win 7). LMMS works fine on Win7.

I loaded an mmps song, but it won't start playing, neither with the mouse start button nor the space bar. Yes I highlighted the track window. Yes, I have the MIDI SF2 files. The MIDI songs are in the MIDI folder in the LMMS folder. The SF2 file is in the SF2 folder in the LMMS folder. I'm just using a general MIDI soundfont.

My output Audio Settings: ALSA (Advanced Linux sound Architecture) I've tried the other output selections, but they're ineffective also.

MIDI interface: (keeps reverting back to "no MIDI support" after reboot) Which is true, as I don't have the MIDI cable plugged in, yet. I do have Jack installed for future use with my piano keyboard. I'm not using JACK yet.

I just want to use the "play through my speakers" function for now.

LMMS found my VSTs, o.k. but I'm not using them.

What am I missing?

Thanks for the help.

You have explained your setup very well, and there is only one thing i can think of: Wine. I know thats necessary. Im not a 'linuxian' windows is more my area :) But there are these threads, that addresses problems with x64 setups, but those was on windows..
Is it wine?

I think you should start with the wiki, perhaps the section
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=Getting_Started
It is still mostly valid, even though all 1.0 updates are not included.
Then continue with
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=Yo ... _with_LMMS
That should get you startet fine.
If you need to learn about music-theory, the page 8-notes is valuable
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=Us ... _resources

And you are most welcome to ask about any thing you dont understand here in forum, just please do create a new topic, with precise headings, and do not extend new questions to existing topics like you did with this one, because that makes the forum confusing for all :)
