Suggestions for + pros/cons of UI Appearance in v1.2 beta

Hello developers,

I've recently downloaded the beta version of v1.2 and there were some things that I liked about it like some of new appearances of existing plugins like 3xOSC. However, there are some things that I would suggest changing and reverting back to for the final release of v1.2. The large border radius of notes in the piano roll throw me off when I'm trying to position notes within the piano roll so my suggestion for that is to make a smaller border radius for notes within the piano roll or revert to the original appearance of the piano roll notes. Another suggestion in regards to appearance is that the text that titles the instrument tracks as well as in the instrument plugin itself is too small and appears pixelated, even on my 1080p display. This is just my opinion. Thank you for considering my suggestions.

Well, some people thought it looks nicer. I made it themeable though, so you can edit the CSS under 'PianoRoll' and change the 'noteBorderRadius' qproperty to 0. That should restore the old look.

Could you please take some screenshots? I did some work on font hinting (making the text sharper), and I also have a 1080 screen, but can't see any pixelation.

Oh and I don't think I should be teasing you, but LMMS 1.2 is going to probably get a full-on new redesigned default theme. We're working very hard on it and hope to integrate it in the master branch soon. Here's a sneek peak:



We need to fix some contrast issues and flatten up stuff, but Rebecca (the main designer) has done an amazing job on the theme, imho.
