So I was working on a project with someone, and I wanted to use a couple VSTs in it. But I don't know why, but it just can't handle them. I try loading the project and now every time, it just crashes. What do I do?

I'm using the latest stable version of LMMS (1.1.3). The 2 VSTs I'm using are MDA Piano and Sonatina ( A Violin VST)

Please help! I don't know what to do!

Hi Cry5tle.
How many instances, of both of those Vst's, are being used in your project?
It is kinda possible, that Sonatina ( A Violin VST) could unfortunately, be the culprit.

PS: Don't forget to check out the Lmms Vst's wiki list, of all the Vst's, that work well in Lmms.

How does your hardware specs look. The most important with VSTs are RAM

Well, I tried putting the VSTs in another folder, and while it did load probably, it's still glitching up.
I do have a backup project without the VSTs, so that works.
And I have tried other VSTs and it did in fact work without any crashing problems whatsoever.

And for RAM, I have 4 GB

Lots of RAM :) so it is as Brandy said, that Sonatina VST that is the problem. You need something else, sorry.

Does anyone know of a good violin VST that works?

two minimalistics&simple violin vsts that should work:

DSK Strings
DSK Overture (can produce other orchestral sounds too)

another alternative is using a vst sample/soundfount player. Therefore you need a sample pack and a compatible player. this is a combination i currently use:

(although it has the 'same' name -sonatina- it is a completely different thing)

Hey,

I had the same problem, I made a track with a few VSTs and after I opened it again, LMMS crashed.
I was scared because I thought I wasn't able to open my project again.
It's the Sonatina Violin that crashes, and after I removed the plugin into another folder, I was able to open LMMS without crashing.
Now I need another plugin to make a violin sound... But my problem is solved

I hope that the makers of Sonatina will fix the plugin.

Im happy that you solved your vst issue, you may like to use Synth1 and one of the many violin presets that you can find online -Do remember to scan for vira!

Simply copy everything inside the codetags, and paste it in a ordinary TEXT (.txt) file, then save it as xxx.sy1 where xxx is a value for 001 to 128.
Paste the file in a folder, and registrar the folder, in synth1.
