Instrument plugin plays one MIDI note then goes silent

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
I have just begun playing around with LMMS on Ubuntu 14.04. Some instrument plugins – the LB302 and the Sf2 Player – works just fine when playing tracks created in the piano roll, but when configured to trigger on MIDI input, they only play one single note (the first key I press and release on the MIDI keyboard), then goes silent.

LMMS and the instrument plugin window indicates that it receives MIDI events from the keyboard (a classic Roland D-50, by the way), but it remains silent.

Other instrument plugins, such as TripleOscillator, works just fine. It is – as far as I have tested so far – only the LB302 and the Sf2 Player.

Does anyone have any clue as to what might be the problem – or instructions how to further diagnose this error? I don't seem able to get any debugging output from LMMS or the instrument plugins.

Kind regards
Stefan
Let's see... first of all, your LMMS version is of interest here. What do you get trying this?

Code: Select all

lmms --version
And second, is this the stock Ubuntu version or something from a PPA?

Third, just to make sure, all plugins work when playing internally in LMMS, i.e. clicking the piano keys in the intsrument editor or playing a piano roll?

If the answer to that last question is "yes", next up would be something like aseqdump to get a look at the MIDI data that comes in from the keyboard.
It's the version of LMMS that can be found in the standard repository for trusty:

Code: Select all

$ lmms --version

Linux MultiMedia Studio 1.0.0
(Linux x86_64, Qt 4.8.6, GCC 4.8.2)

Copyright (c) 2004-2014 LMMS developers.
All plugins works as expected when I click the on-screen keyboard or use the piano roll to manually enter notes -- BUT after having been triggered by MIDI once, the instrument plugin is silent, even when playing on the on-screen keyboard. Saving and reloading the project makes the instrument plugin come alive again -- until triggered by MIDI again.

I'll see if I can compile version 1.1.3. Maybe that helps.
And another thing:

All PPA:s I found was rather outdated. Is there a actively updated one?

KXStudio has 1.1.3: https://launchpad.net/~kxstudio-debian/ ... ter=trusty

...but I really can't say if it's a wiser choice than compiling. Depends on how much the PPA wants to change on your system. :!:
LMMS 1.1.3 compiled just fine, and it seems to work as well. At least I can play the Sf2 Player via MIDI now.

Thanks!
